Celebrating the Life of
Stephen Santalu Davis, 68, was born August 2, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois
Stephen Davis otherwise know as, GGPA, Big Daddy and Grand Daddy to his Grandchildren & Great Grand Children was the "Rock" of the Family. He was a leader, insightful, loving and always willing to help. He enjoyed his Family, movies and was always cracking jokes
He attended Tilton Elementary, graduated from Orr High School, he studied martial arts and Photography. He was an aspiring R&B and Reggae musician, in 1999, Stephen opened a store called "The Soapery" where he made natural soaps, gave soap making classes and sold shea butter. Later he worked at the Desnick Eye Clinic for 2 years, as a custodian at Evanston High for 15 years, and as a facility manager for CYC for 2 years. He retired in 2019.
In 1981 Stephen met the love of his life "Nina" and they were inseparable. He fully enjoyed life. He made time to show up for everyone who reached out to him, providing caring, trustworthy and sound counsel always.
He was preceded in death by his Mother Dorothy Nina Davis. He is survived by his wife of 41 years "Nina" who survives him. Their children Tauneshe Davis-Smith (Son-In-Law) Mack Smith, Lawrence Brown, and Alisa Brown. his Sister Elaine Davis-Price, (Brother In-Law Rusell Price) his Grandchildren, Falisa Zinn, Zisirtike McMillian, Mystique Davis, Martinique McMillian, Lawrence Brown Jr., Ashanti Hall, Lauren Hall. Mydrell Smith, Mack Smith, Nia Hall, Lindsey Mims. Stephen had a host of Great Grand Children (17), that he loved very much, and they called him "GGPA". an Aunt (Shirley Ann Wilson-Faber) He leaves a host of nieces, an Aunt and a host of cousins and extended family members and friends, that will Miss him dearly.
