Obituary

Renee Irene Stuedemann, age 75, passed away on May 19, 2025.

Renee was born on May 22, 1949, in Clinton, Iowa, where she spent her formative years in rural Elvira, Iowa. She became a baton twirler, practicing daily and won the Junior and Senior National Baton Championships, and Top Ten in Miss America twirling 1, 2, and 3 batons as her talent.

She went on to graduate from Iowa State University and Harrington Institute of Interior Design (in Chicago). She became a commercial interior designer, corporate space planner and project manager, specializing in bank space. Following that, she taught at Harrington and supervised study labs & lab assistants. Very important in her life was volunteer work. She was on the Board of Directors of a food pantry for many years, followed by volunteer work at her church, Pilgrim Lutheran Church & School, and mentoring refugees in partnership with Refugee One.

Renee enjoyed quilting. She made and did quilt presentations for the Quilts of Valor Foundation. She made wheelchair lap quilts for nursing homes and hospice patients, and small quilts for young immigrant children.

Renee is survived by her brother Ross, his son Justin and wife Anne, children Ella and Ava, and brother Reed and wife Sue, his son Jesse and wife Kate, children Kit and Margot, and daughter Sara.

The memorial service will be at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 4300 N. Winchester Avenue, Chicago, IL on June 7 at noon. Burial will be at Center Grove Cemetery in Goose, Lake, Iowa at a time to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, she requests donations be made to Pilgrim Lutheran Church & School. Pilgrim Lutheran School Pilgrim Lutheran Church
