Obituary

Margaret (Priscilla) Stabler, 75, died on November 7, 2021 after a 16-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Priscilla was born in Dublin, Ireland, the youngest daughter of William and Margaret Willis. Priscilla had an adventurous spirit, traveling around Europe before meeting her husband, Jerald Stabler, a US Marine, in Rota, Spain. She continued this adventure as a military wife while caring for two daughters. As a military spouse, she taught her girls adaptability and resilience, taking every move and every new deployment in stride and making sure that her girls always felt at home no matter where they were. She was a fiercely, unconditionally loving mother and grandmother; funny, supportive, kind, and tougher than she looked. She always made her children and grandchildren feel like they could do anything. She loved music and could be counted on to have a song always at the ready. She shared her love of song (and hilariously misheard lyrics) with her children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she was boundlessly proud of them. She loved people and made a point of befriending everyone she encountered. Priscilla is survived by her daughters, Tanya Stabler (Andrew) Miller and Cherie Stabler (Scott) Anderson, grandchildren Charlotte and Henry Miller and Colleen and Juliet Anderson, her sister, Magda Finnegan, and her five beloved nieces and nephew and their children. A celebration of Priscilla's life will be held at Ravenswood Baptist Church on December 19, 2021 at 6pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Ravenswood Baptist Church, the American Cancer Society, or PAWS Chicago.
