It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Julia Samson of Chicago, IL on August 6, 2022, at the age of 84 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children Edgar, Julando (Carmen), and Dinah Rabiela (Sergio); grandchildren Glorisel, Julia, Olivia, Noah, and Phoebe; great-grandson Daniel; siblings Celia, Constantino (Remedios), Delia (Dale), Connie (Bill, deceased), and Napoleon (Beatriz) as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 42 years, Orlando.
Julia was born on December 27, 1937 in Pasay City, Philippines the fifth of ten children. She graduated from the University of Santo Tomas (Manila, Philippines) with a BSc in Pharmacy and immigrated to Chicago in the early 60s. She had a lengthy career as a registered pharmacist at Columbus Hospital and Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center.
Julia loved to travel, especially cruises to Alaska, Spain, Greece and Italy with her husband upon retirement. She enjoyed gardening, cooking Filipino meals for her extended family, and l
ong chats with her dear sisters and friends. She often fondly recounted her early life in the Philippines. A devout Catholic, Julia attended daily mass and was a parishioner of St Priscilla for many years.
Julia was proud o
f her three children and took great joy in being "Lola" to her five grandchildren.
