John G. Weber Jr. peacefully passed away on July 9, 2019 at the grand age of 91. Beloved husband of Ilona, nee Hopkins; loving father of Vanessa (Edward), Myles (Karen), Celeste, Phyllis and Brian (Pamela); and grandfather of seven. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Rose Weber. A Chicagoan all his life, no one could miss his charm, warm manner and sharp wit. John was a faithful member and active volunteer at St. Benedict Church for more than 60 years. He was an avid reader and fan of all Chicago sports teams, but had a special place in his heart for the Cubs. So it was a dream come true when he was able to see the Cubs win game 5 of the World Series at Wrigley Field in 2016 with Vanessa and Myles. John was also a master storyteller - as he thoroughly enjoyed discussing current events and sharing stories from his younger days. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He worked for the CTA as a bus driver for 36 years. John was also a dedicated volunteer at Blind Service Association where he read to the blind for many years. A devoted father and grandfather, he loved drawing and playing games like Scrabble with his grandchildren. John was a great, honorable man, full of life. His trademark grin and wonderful, funny and gentle spirit will be missed and treasured by so many family members and friends.

His wake will be held on Monday, July 15 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Grein Funeral Home, 2114 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago, Illinois. His funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 16 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Benedict Church, 2215 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago, Illinois. His burial will be private.
