Obituary

Carlos G. Stark also known as Chet, a carpenter, a master of all traits and a life-long resident of Chicago, IL, died unexpectedly on February 8, 2024 at the age of 62 in his home.

A celebration of life service will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Grein Funeral Directors, 2114 W. Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL 60618. Reverend Joseph Smith Jr will be leading us in prayer.

Burial Service will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421 on February 23, 2024 at 11 a.m.

Carlos was born on July 14, 1961, in Chicago, IL to Raymond Garza and Martha Stark. He gave his life to Christ at an early age.  He graduated from Gordon Tech High School. He continued his education and service in the Air Force as a Jet Engine Mechanic Specialist in Lubbock, TX. In which time he met his wife Janie Lucio and her daughter Amanda Tanguma. Soon after, Carlos and Janie gave birth to Emily Vaughn. The family relocated to Chicago to further his career. Thanks to his greater ambitions, he was able to be self-employed, which made him available for not only his family but anyone in need. He worked as a self-contractor of Olsen Rugs for many years while attending night school for Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration in Bensenville, IL. He loved his family and friends. His heart was filled with laughter and jokes. He enjoyed listening to spanish and dance music. His favorite past time was cooking and baking for the family; he was always looking for the next new recipe.

Carlos is survived by his daughter, Emily Vaughn Stark, IL, her mother, San Juanita Lucio, IL and her daughter, Amanda Ann Mejia and her husband Robert Orlando Mejia, IL; grandchildren: Maya Alizayiah Figueroa, Alana Isabel Chonillo, Ziel Elijah Chonillo and Mikah Jae Mejia, his brother, Bernie Stark, IL and his wife Bernedette Stark, IL, his sisters, Gloria Himo, IL, Griselda Garza, TX, and Veronica Garza, TX, along with nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Garza  and Martha Stark.
